Punjab Public Service Commission (PPSC) was established in April 1937. Its functions were defined explicitly in the 1956 and 1962 constitutions. On the creation of one unit, this commission was renamed as West Pakistan Public Service Commission prior to July 1, 1970. After the dismemberment of the unit, the commission was re-appointed to the Punjab Public Service Commission.
The Commission is empowered for direct employment to various posts under the Government of Punjab. Punjab Public Service Commission was set up under the resolutions 1978 and the Punjab Public Service Commission (Function) Rules 1978. The Commission has the status of a special institution and is under the administrative control of S & GAD Government of Punjab.
Now Punjab Public Service Commission has made announcement for competition test (PMS), which is going to start from 6th July 2012 in Lahore, Rawalpindi and Multan according to the given schedule.
