Approval of 4-Year Literacy Project by Punjab Govt

Lahore, The approval has been accorded by the Punjab government for four years Punjab Enhanced Functional Literacy and project of Informal Basic Education and department of Informal Basic Education and funded with Rs.2.3 billion.

Chairman P&D Javed Aslam reviewed the review project plan in the meeting of Punjab Development Working Party which was sent by Dr. Pervaiz Ahmed Khan, Secretary Literacy department. The government has already clearly stated that Rs. 700 million has already been reserved for the litereacy department against their requirement of Rs.1.437 billion in the currect financial year to cdarrty out their annual development progam.

P&D chairman and secretaries of school education department accepted Punjab Accelerated Functional Literacy and Project of Informal Basic Education while attending the meeting.

Under this project, 35 districts have been selected in which 30 selected union councils, 170 schools of informal basic education will be imparted to the students of 5 to16 years age group. The teachers busy in giving education in these schools, their salaries will be improved from Rs.2500 to Rs.5000.
