Lahore, The Government College University Lahore has been established 148 years before, which is an old and proved institution for higher learning in Pakistan. Now the government is going to spoil this unique institution by transforming it into bus stations. The Old Ravian Union made requests to the Chief of PML-N Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, Chief Minister of Punjab Mian Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif and Punjab Chief Secretary Punjab Nasir Mehmood Khosa to settle this issue and save this distinguished educational institute from great destruction.

The executive committee of the Old Ravians Union made requests to the concerned authorities to save the GCU ensuring the safety of historical Logia Gardens and Girls Hostel turning into the terminals for the Rapid Mass Transit Bus Service.

Mian Muhammad Cachhar Advocate , the Secretary of Old Ravians Union told that GCU has the honor of alma mater of distinguished personalities comprising of Allama Muhammad Iqbal, Faiz Ahmad Faiz, N.M Rashid, Patras Bokhari, Nobel Laureate Prof. Dr. Abdus Salam and various other literary critics, politicians, jurists, sportsmen and scientists. There is no solid reason to ruin this historical institution for building of bus terminal. Such type of historical buildings and educational institutions are our national heritage. The union is opined that instead of demolishing the GCU campus bus terminal should be shifted to some other suitable sites like Nasir Bagh.

The union stressed hard that GCU has only one girl hostel where about 300 female students belonging to Balochistan, Sindh, khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Azad Kashmir and remote areas of Punjab are living.

The Old Ravians Union executive committee requests to the Chief Minister for taking interest in the matter personally and resolve this issue as a true lover of education. They also praised Shahbaz Sharif greatly for providing modern and convenient transport service to the people of Lahore.
